Meeting Minutes

 

The meeting of the Middletown Wrestling Association (MWA) was called to order on Monday, May 8, 2006, at 7:10 p.m. by Gregg Hughes.

 

In attendance at meeting were: Lisa Kochinsky, Jen Miller, Keith Biter, Chad Allen, Greg Hughes, Paula Allen, Roberta Mummert, Charles Euker, Michelle Whitman, Barb Simmons, Mick Simmons, Mr. and Mrs. Bailes, Coach Nauman and Coach Griffin.

 

Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Kochinsky reviewed the May 2006 Treasurer’s Report which includes deposits from both tournaments.  The present checkbook balance is $2,357.80 (Mat Club funds – Deposits - $1702.50- Checks written out $1295.00 = Mat Club balance is $407.50); singlet fund - $71.12; 6-month CD - $3,126.42; 6-month CD - $10,300.83; and 6-month CD - $10,091.16.

Income: T-shirts sales = $73.00

Concessions = $252.10

Admissions = $211.00

Registration = 1217.00

Totaling = $1753.10

 

Expenses:

Awards = $437.50

Concessions = $485.96

Trainer = $50.00

Referees = $264.00

Totaling = $1501.46

 

Profit being = $251.64

 

***There are drinks that are leftovers from tournament and they will be used for Basket Bingo and Camp. ***

 

Coach’s Report – Coach Nauman – Announced that wrestlers and parents will have to sign a waiver this year, when attending the Granby System Wrestling Camp at VA Beach; this form verifies that wrestler will not participate in form of hazing during camp.  If they choice to participate in hazing during camp, the wrestler will be removed from Camp and parents are responsible to provide transportation home.

 

Coach Griffin – Announced for any parent concerned about there child at camp, that there will be arrangements for younger wrestler’s to stay at his friends home.  Wrestler’s will attend Camp and have meal cards. Coach Griffin is also looking for some wrestler’s to attend the following camps with him: (There is NO Fee; however gas and food money will be needed from wrestlers)

 

West VA – June 12-16

Solanco – June 26-30

Danville – July 1-3

 

Also, Middletown’s camp is schedule for July 24 – 28.

 

 

 

 

 

Committee Updates -

A.  Program (Jen Miller) - wants to work on sponsorship from business during the summer for the program this year.

B.   Concession – Cathy Meise - Nothing reported.

C.   Clothing (Jen Miller) – Nothing reported

D.  Elementary Registration (Kochinsky/Allen) – Nothing reported.

 

E.   Tournament (Pam Reitzi) –.

o    Novice:  January 28, 2006

o    Open:  February 4, 2006

o    Jr/Sr High – May 6, 2006

o    Pam is looking to have an open tournament at the end of October beginning of November.

 

F.   Fundraising

·         Lottery Tickets (Kochinsky/Barb Simmons) – projected profit at end of March - $2,060.

·         Basket Bingo (Miller) – rescheduled for June 4.  Jen has tickets that can be sold.  Tickets are $20.00 and $25.00 at the door.      

·         Junior High Dance (Kathy Murray) - St. Patrick’s Day Dance - March 17 – approximately $200 was profited.

·         Raffle Tickets 

·         Candles – to raise money for wrestlers for Camp. Money and order forms are due to Jennie on June 9.

G.   Banquet (Miller) – Announced that we have 9 going out senior’s for next year.

H.  Senior Night/Recognition (Miller) – Nothing reported.

I.    Volunteers (Demko) – Nothing reported.

J.    Awards (Miller) – Nothing reported.

K.  Elementary Quad Meet (Bill Simmons) – Nothing reported.

M.  Publicity/Press & Journal (Miller) – Nothing reported.

N.  Button Committee – Gregg announced we can use the button machine; we just have to have our own supplies.

New Business

·         MWA and Matt Club need to be separate accounts, board has decided to just open a separate savings account for Matt Club.

 

·         Camp Credit Accounts – Discussion took place on re-establishing camp credit accounts for wrestlers starting next year.  Guidelines and requirements would need to be drafted.  Scholarships still would be available for wrestlers who do not have any funds in his account.

 

·         Barb has announced that she is looking for someone to take over the web-page.

 

Next Meeting – TBD - a transition meeting with officers will be held, and additional dates will be posted on the website.
