Minutes

The meeting of the Middletown Wrestling Association (MWA) was called to order on Monday, October 10, 2005, at 7:10 p.m. by President Hughes.

In attendance at meeting were: Gregg Hughes, Tammy Via, Lisa Demko, Lisa Kochinsky, Jennie Miller, Emily McClure, Brenda Mittereder and Coach Nauman.

Introduction of Officers: President – Gregg Hughes; Vice President – Tammy Via; Secretary – Lisa Demko; and Treasurer – Lisa Kochinsky.

Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Kochinsky reviewed the July 2005 Treasurer’s Report. The present checkbook balance is $4,582.16 (outstanding checks - $622.70); singlet fund CD - $1,501.74; 6-month CD - $3,042.07; and 6-month CD - $10,032.05.

Discussion was held on purchasing new singlets for the elementary program and the need to collect a refundable deposit when the singlet is returned.

** Moved by Jennie Miller, seconded by Emily McClure, that a refundable deposit be collected when singlets are distributed to the elementary wrestlers with the deposit being returned when the single is returned. Passed unanimously.

Coach’s Report – Coach Nauman

Brad Bechtel will serve as junior high head coach assisted by Rich White. There is the possibility of two other assistants. Bill Simmons will serve as elementary head coach.

Committee Updates - Hughes reviewed the committee list and responsibilities and noted it is the desire to have an individual serve as the head each committee. Individuals who have volunteered names have been added.

2. Concession (Kathy Meise) – Brenda Mittereder and Emily McClure agreed to assist.

3. Clothing (Jen Miller/Paula Allen) – At the end of the meeting, Miller had information available for the clothing sale.

4. Elementary Registration (Kochinsky/Allen) – Early registration scheduled for October 22 at homecoming football game; other registration dates – November 12 (11:00 – 2:00) and November 16 (7:00 – 8:30). Information concerning registration will be in the Press & Journal and Middletown Shopper. The singlet refundable deposit will need to be added to the registration form.

5. Tournament (Reitzi) – Working on dates. It was suggested that we think about holding the May tournament at a different time.

Budget – The officers will be meeting with the coaches to work on the budget for this year. Coach Nauman indicated that the school district is purchasing additional singlets for junior and high school. Coach Nauman would like to have the wrestlers be able to purchase sweat suits that they would be able to keep. Hughes indicated that MWA could possibility purchase these and that it should be included as part of the budget if desired.

Old Business – No items.

New Business

• Team Parents – this was started last year to help the coaches with money distributed to wrestlers for meals for tournaments.

• Junior High Dance – lost space/date last year; working on getting back on the schedule

• Recognition: Team and Volunteers – something Hughes would like MWA to consider this year.

• Website – it was suggested that minutes of the meetings be posted. Coach Nauman also asked about a link to worldwide wrestling.

• Scholarship Fund – possibility of merging the Steven Kuhn Memorial Scholarship Fund established by Pin-N-Win. Demko will contact Barb Simmons to investigate details.

Next Meeting - The next monthly meeting will be held on Monday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. at the cafeteria of the high school.

Adjournment – The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
